Why I The Book, Why This Site? 

I've moved over 20 times in my life—I know firsthand how stressful any move can be, and an international move can feel even more daunting. I’ve had the fortunate experience of being an expat in London, Amsterdam, Paris, Rome, and Hong Kong, and throughout my career in international consulting, I’ve worked in over 80 countries. 

 

Planning is in my nature. As someone who has worked in IT and Cybersecurity, creating structured processes (SOPs) is what I do best—and when it comes to moving abroad, having a plan makes surprises far less likely. If you came here for the romanticized version of Italy, don’t expect Under the Tuscan Sun—I’m not a novelist, just an anal-retentive planner who doesn’t like surprises. 

 

Italy presents an incredible opportunity for a new life, but knowing what you need, gathering the right information, and staying organized is key to making a successful transition. The idea for my book came as I was building my own moving checklist in Notion—I realized that others could benefit from it too. 

 

I plan to update the book periodically with fresh information and insights as rules change and new challenges arise. I’m also working on a second book that dives deeper into the financial impacts of moving abroad, considering other expat-friendly destinations like Portugal, Spain, Greece, and France. 

 

Why Caesar The Day?  

The name is a play on words, but it’s also my personal creed. Carpe Diem—Seize the Day—has always resonated with me as a philosophy for life, and I strive to live with intention, embrace new opportunities, and take action toward my goals. The idea came to me as an exercise in a college marketing class on personal branding**, and it stuck. And really—with a name like Caesar Julius, where else but Italy could I move?
